“I just keep getting wiser dahhhhling.”
I’m starting this first post of the year with a serum that’s called Another Year Wiser by Neighbourhood Botanicals. I think it’s very fitting – don’t we all hold on to reflect over the past and make resolutions for the new year to come? My mantra has always been to remain young while growing wise. So far, so good. I’ve used this serum since last summer on a daily basis and I’m absolutely in love with it. Any fine dry lines I might have had, are gone! Seriously. One thing that almost kept me from choosing this oil, was that Neighbourhood Botanicals says it is for mature skin. I’m glad, I dared to try this oil on my babyface-like skin. It accompanied me on my long flight to Bali, nourishing my dry airplane skin and helping out as aromatherapy (you know how long flights to Asia can be a little rough on the nose sometimes ). Then, on Bali after being out in the sun all day, this oil was all my face needed. Vitamin C from the grapefruit and orange essential oils is perfect for repairing sun damaged skin. As is Vitamin E. Apricot kernel, wheat germ, macadamia and rosehip oils all provide vitamins, antioxidants and essential fatty acids. Fennel and cypress essential oils have healing and cleansing properties while lavender is known for its calming and relaxing effects. All together they provide a pretty amazing scent sensation. Another Year Wiser face serum smells like citrus, cut fruits and fresh herbs on a summer day. It is soothing and dreamy. I greatly recommend this oil. When I compare it to other face serums of this quality, I believe it is reasonably priced at 28 EUR.
The Story behind:
Micaela, the founder of Neighbourhood Botanicals has grown up using oils and natural everything from her hippie mother in Australia. When she hit her late twenties she was living a big city rock’n’roll lifestyle, which she realized was killing her skin! Not wanting to spend money on cosmetics with bad chemicals in them or overpriced creams, Micaela decided to create her own serum. She developed a love of perfumery which is incorporated into the blends. So each serum is having a full olfactory palette.
